Clint Black: Steady Stream Of Time
Clint Black broke ground with a song called "A Better Man" in 1989 during a time period when country music was in dire need of an element to re-validate
its identity. That time period did produce a bumper crop of solid top knotch country artists such as Randy Travis, George Strait, Alan Jackson and Reba McEntire. Clint Black
literally exploded on the scene with the killer album, "Killin' Time," which landed him right in their midst, making him an instant contemporary.
While "A Better Man" was still warming country charts, he released the next chart buster which was the title song from the album. In all "Killin' Time" produced five number one songs. It
went triple platnium and is among CMT's "One Hundred Greatest Albums in Country Music." Not a bad foundation to build upon, but how do you follow something that "don't get any better than that?"
The only possible answer is to just keep doing it, something he has managed to accomplish over time.
So where is Clint Black in coutry music's stream of time today? "The Very Best of Clint Black" which is due to be released in June 2009 will condense two decades of timeless hits. Whether he's "Spending Time" or "Killin' Time,"
you can be certain he's doing it with music and doing it consistently with "no time to kill."-NU
